Your body has changed.
Pain that won’t let go. Tension that creeps back in. A sense that your body just doesn’t work the way it used to.
You’ve done the stretches. You’ve seen the specialists. You’ve followed the programs.
So why does it still hurt to do the simple things? It’s not just your muscles. It’s your nervous system.
Many movement and rehab methods skip one crucial piece: your brain.
Chronic tension, stiffness, and pain don’t start in your tissues. They start in your nervous system, and until that gets addressed, the cycle keeps repeating.
This isn’t your fault. And, no, it’s not just aging.
I’m Barbara Richman, and I teach people how to move easily and relieve pain by working with their bodies, not against them.
As a certified Clinical Somatics practitioner and long-time movement educator, I help people reconnect brain and body through slow, intentional movement.
This isn’t exercise in the traditional sense. It’s gentle, effective retraining that helps your nervous and muscular systems release the patterns keeping you stuck.
When combined with thoughtful strength work, this approach builds not only flexibility but true capacity.
I call it Fusion Somatics, a blend of movement, awareness, and science that helps you take charge of your body again.
“Once again, my time with you has been amazing! Almost feel as though I could get
back on the stage again.”
-Rodney, Florida
“Barbara has opened a whole new world to me regarding how to better appreciate and care for my body. She has taught me how to achieve better body alignment by learning how to release old, unhelpful, muscular patterns. How often less is more. But most of all she has been a caring and supportive teacher who inspires me as she practices what she teaches. Now, when I am stiff, uncomfortable or disconnected, I can take care of myself in the best possible way.“
-Anna, Nova Scotia
“Barbara is caring, knowledgeable and passionate, an expert at communicating how bodies work and how they can learn to work more efficiently through release, repatterning and focused exercise. I love working with Barbara and feel very privileged to have benefitted from the vast body of wisdom she has acquired through her own physical challenges and experiences. Anyone could and should benefit from her teachings!"
